Nice ASP.NET ViewState Helper#

Saw this on Scott Hanselman's blog (link to post) but the guys at Binary Fortress make a great little tools called ASP.NET ViewState Helper. It allows you to see the site of the ViewState for each page, and also decode the ViewState. Since 98% of what we do at WDG is web based, and the vast majority of that is ASP.NET, its a tool I'll be adding to our suite :)

Download it here!

Tools Update#

Since I lost my laptop I've had a number of desktops, and I've come to realise that I rely on a good many tools to 'get things done'. A few updates of my favorite tools came out today:

- Virtual PC 2007 - supports hardware virtualisation and Vista as a host, a client or both

- Reflector 5 - support for C# 3.0 (Linq, Lambda experssions etc), UI updates, kewl expand methods option plus more.

TFS Tip: Nice app to delete TFS project#

Our TFS server has been running nicely since we started using it across the organisation in early/mid 2006. Today I had a request to delete a project that had been created and was not being used, and I found this nice little WinForms app dev'd by Julien to add to our list of TFS Admin tools :)

Jim Allchins last act at Microsoft ... post a blog entry#

Jim Allchin (the man behind Vista) just posted an amusing blog entry about what the future may hold...

http://windowsvistablog.com/blogs/windowsvista/archive/2007/01/31/what-comes-next.aspx

Apparently, it was the last thing he did as an MS employee...
